Electromical cell the utilizing electricity to
change chemical reaction. The reaction occuring in cathode and anode called
electrolisis.
1. Cathode
reaction
a. The
reaction is reduction reaction
b. For
the solution in cell contain AI, AII, Alumunium and Mangan then the irreducible
is H2O. But if in cell there are melt or smelt ions active metal,
then the irreducible is cation from the active metal.
2. Anode
reaction
a. The
reaction is oxidation reacyion
b. If
anode made of Carbon, Platinium, and Gold. Then anode can not reaction. So the
react is anion or water in the solution.
With
the provisions:
1. If
in solution there are anion atom oxide as recidual acid then the oxidized in
anode is water
2. If
in solution does’nt have oxygen atom, then the oxidized is the anion
3. If
anode made of other materials, beside carbon, platinium, and gold. Then the
oxidized is metal.
·
The reduction H2O : 2HO + 2e-
.....>>> H2 + 2OH-
·
The oxidation H2O : 2HO .....>>> O2 + 4H+
+ 4e-
Example
: write full reaction of zincsulfate with platinium electrode
2
ZnSO4 .....>>> 2 Zn2+ + 2 SO42- x2
Cathode
: Zn2+ + 2e- ....>>> Zn x2
Anode
: 2H2O ....>>> 4H+ + O2 + 4e- x1
Cathode
: 2 Zn2+ + 4e-
....>>> 2 Zn
Anode
: 2H2O ....>>>
4H+ + O2 + 4e-
-
2
ZnSO4 + 2H2O
....>>> 2 SO42 + 2 Zn + 4H+ + O2

happy watching ^_^
If anode made of Carbon, Platinium, and Gold. Then why anode can not reaction?
BalasHapusCan you give some examples of the application of anode and cathode reactions in everyday life? Please explain.
BalasHapusThe electrolytic cell can be used for electroplating.
HapusDefinition 1: Electroplating
The process of coating an electrically conductive object with a thin layer of metal using an electrical current.
Electroplating occurs when an electrically conductive object is coated with a layer of metal using electrical current. Sometimes, electroplating is used to give a metal particular properties or for aesthetic reasons:
corrosion protection
abrasion and wear resistance
the production of jewellery
what is the impact of chemical reaction in our daily life? Please explain.
BalasHapusIn electrochemical cells spontaneous redox reactions produce electricity. How did the reaction occur? Then give examples and reactions that occur.
